CORIOLIS DESIGN MODEL
Problem: Design and implement a model using your knowledge of the Coriolis Effect that demonstrates what direction a pilot would take when traveling from Seattle to San Francisco.
Procedure:
Data:
Trial 1: Because of the Coriolis Effect, the direction went to the southwest.
Trial 2: The plane wen to the southwest.
Tria;l 3: The wind made the plane go southwest.
Data Analysis: The balloon lab demonstrates that the pilot would travel southwest when traveling from Seattle to San Francisco. The line that was drawn on the balloon represents the direction.
Procedure:
- Blow up a balloon
- Label a point Seattle near the top of the balloon. Label a point Seatlle directly south.
- Spin the balloon on an axis
- While spinning, draw a line on the map.
- Record observations.
