ECOLOGY WARM UPS

1. The seal recieves 1% of the energy from the clams, and the shark gets 0.1% of the energy of the seal. This is because the energy is saved 90% for the producer, and 10% is passed on to the first consumer and so on, called the 10% law.
2. A producer/consumer relationship in this food chain would be the phytoplankton and the clams. A predator/prey relationship would be the seals and the sharks.
3. The clam is a primary consumer.

1. A squirrel's niche would be how they use trees to help them get food, and how they store nuts.
2. They will have to interact and compete for food, and other resources. It would be hard for both of the organisms. The best suited will be the winner.

1. Deer, rabbit, and grasshopper would compete for resources, because they all share the producers, and would have to get the food for themselves in their niche.

1. Plants compete for sunlight and the nutrients found in soil. Room to grow would also be one.
2. Plants would compete when there aren't enough resources for both plants, like in a rainforest, and also when there isn't enough sunlight,

The polar bears might lose their homes due to the warming of the tundra climate. They might have a hard time surviving, unless they adapt to the new environment. Not only homes, but they will also lose their food and other resources. An adaptation would be the fur, and it might help, but the fur is heat obsorbant. Shedding their fur could help them be less heat obsorbant.

1. Then environment is getting warmer due to global warming.
2. This would be a long term change, since it took a long time for it to happen and it will take a long time for it to get back to normal.
3. If the short fur trait is passed on, and the environment changes back, it would be hard for them to get adapted to it. The rabbits with longer hair will die out.

1. A volcano erupting would be a long tern environmental change since it changes the ecosystem.
2. The organism would have to adapt to the new environment or move to a different environment to survive.

The difference between iterspecific competition and intraspecific competition wouuld be that interspecific competition is between organisms from different species, and intraspecific would be competition from the same species. An example of interspecific would be when a tree of one species grows taller than other trees from different species, it takes the nutrients from those trees, An intraspecific example would be squirrels.

There would be a lot of competition between these organisms, since not all of them dont have enough resources. Also, there wont be enough room. Animals could die out as well.
